Youth Communication Strategies for School Sport Associations
As legislation around children and social media evolves, school sport associations are being asked to rethink how they communicate and engage – while upholding strong privacy and child safety standards. In this one-hour session, Youth Engagement Project will provide practical guidance to help associations understand the shift, reduce uncertainty, and respond with clarity and confidence.
We’ll unpack the legislation and explore what meaningful youth engagement looks like when access to young people is more restricted. Participants will learn how young people experience institutions today, what drives trust and participation, and how to adapt communication strategies to remain relevant to students, families and schools.
The session will offer adaptable frameworks and actionable ideas to strengthen association systems and engagement processes, with interactive discussion and time for Q&A.

We are delighted to welcome Skye Hughes and Amanda Marshall as guest presenters for our first professional development webinar for 2026. Skye and Amanda are the Co-Founders of Youth Engagement Project (YEP), an organisation that exists to support the people who support young people. They’ve spent over a decade working across classrooms, councils, and community spaces – leading programs, training teams, and building capacity across the youth sector. And what they’ve seen, time and time again, is this: Young people don’t just need more services. They need deeper connection.
Despite more funding and programs than ever, youth wellbeing continues to decline. They believe the missing link is not more systems – it’s more meaningful engagement.
